A small organization

with a big heart

Maase Nissim was founded in 2014 by Rabbi Nissim Shamhon from Ofakim, in memory of friends and soldiers who fell in battle. From personal loss grew a vision of hope — to reach out to anyone in need and work year-round to bring real, meaningful help to people’s lives. Since then, the organization has been dedicated to helping every person — regardless of religion, background, or gender. Our volunteers reflect that same spirit, coming from every part of Israeli society. Together, we are united by one simple goal: to do good.

Our main activities include weekly food distribution every Friday, along with large holiday food drives before the major Jewish holidays — making sure every family has a full table.

We also support boys and girls as they prepare for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. This includes studying the weekly Torah portion, guidance in putting on tefillin, and sometimes even providing the tefillin themselves — so that every child can celebrate this important moment with dignity. Today, our work is focused mainly in the city of Ofakim and surrounding communities, where we provide ongoing support to local families. With your help and donations, we are gradually expanding our reach to additional areas — so more families can receive an act of kindness exactly when they need it.

We’re here to remind people that no one has to face hardship alone. Every donation, every act of volunteering, every good deed — together creates a true Maase Nissim, an act of miracles.
